The Benefits of Tea Time

One of our favorite night time rituals is drinking herbal teas. Chamomile, ginger, acai berry, and hibiscus teas are rich in flavonoids and help lower blood pressure, reduce stress, and help prepare your body for sleep.

If you haven’t already, try adding a cup of hot herbal tea to your nightly routine to help relax and unwind you from the day. It can help reduce your overall caloric intake and strengthen your immune system, especially if you skip the refined sugar and artificial sweeteners. Instead, use a tablespoon of raw, unfiltered, and unpasteurized honey to sweeten your tea and to boost the antibacterial and anti-fungal properties of your soothing drink.

May your night be peaceful and your sleep restful!

New Year, Healthier You

January 1, 2022

New beginnings, like the dawn of a fresh new day, month, or calendar year, seem to carry with them a sense of hope, anticipation, and the chance for us to grow and evolve more into the people we long to be. As we cycle through another year and begin anew for 2022, what kind of resolutions and changes do you want to see happen in your life? That’s a hard question to ponder. Often, New Year’s resolutions crash because we put too much pressure on ourselves and set goals too lofty to attain and measure. I can think of only one resolution that I actually kept from the beginning of one year to the very end. So, I know the feeling of frustration when I resolve to do something different and grandeur, and it lasts for only a few short weeks.

When it comes to improving our health, lasting change takes a commitment to the process. But, like lofty goal setting, we bite off more than we can chew (no pun intended) and wonder why we can’t reach our desired outcome. Author, James Clear, in his book “Atomic Habits”, says, “The difference a tiny improvement can make over time is astounding. If you can get 1 percent better each day for one year, you’ll end up 37 percent better by the time you’re done.” How can this be possible? Because a small change in habit compounds over time, and the effects of your good habits multiply as you repeat them day after day. So, as you think of improving your health this coming year, try to think along these lines.

What tiny change can you make each day that is sustainable throughout January 2022 and the months that follow? It could be as simple as leaving the cheese or mayo off your sandwich or going for a 15-20 minute walk after dinner 3 times per week. Whatever you decide to do, make it simple enough to achieve. Then, commit to the process to make it a sustainable lifestyle change. We are here to encourage you towards a greater health and wish you all the best in your endeavors!
